I am planning a couple of posts to answer some questions (skin care and lip glosses seem to be at the top of the list), but thought I would answer a little one below.
I tried to write about how to make your own beaded necklaces but honestly, this video answers many of the questions and actually show you what to do way better than I could in photos. Also check out the entire video series here to learn about supplies, how to, etc.
I tend to use 8-10mm beads and make them 15 inches (I like a necklace that is close to my neckline, so for me it's a little shorter than the typical 16 inches). I usually hunt for the beads at chain stores (Michael's, AC Moore, etc), but have found some awesome specialty beads on etsy. Just type in what you are looking for (such as opaque jade beads, 10 mm) and you'll be amazed at the options.
