I'm heading off to San Diego for another business conference. Love these looks to pack lightly.

I used to drink lemon water every day. This reminded me why I need to start that again.

Really want to make this:

Blonde Be Gone

My entire life I've been blonde (well, semi-blonde the past few years as highlights have been needed to keep me that way). I saw Footloose and kept staring at Juliane Hough's hair. Such beautiful color.
Sure, I don't have those long, flowing locks, but hey, I could try the color.

So...I went from this:
to this!

 And I'm thrilled!!
Can't blame being ditzy on being blonde anymore though.

You can link up at the end and join in all the fun sharing your favorite web finds.

Although I might not be able to crochet, I love the aqua and mustard color combo (shocking, I know)

How amazing is this knitted/crocheted garden?? The entire blog post is gorgeous.

I have some scarves and am trying to wear them more this fall. This tutorial is fantastic and has fresh, new ways to sport your scarf.

Although it is still in the semi-distant future, this cute wrapping idea might just happen this Christmas. I'm thinking of using a roll of kraft paper for most of my gifts and either doing yarn ribbons or this super cool technique.

Thanks for playing along!

What I Made Monday 10/18/11 {on a Tuesday}

I'm linking up here with Conni to share my latest creation.

Photobucket

This week I knitted this:
I love French/Martha Stewart blue. It's a recent realization even though my bathroom linens and coverlet in our bedroom are the same color. I just love the muted pop of color.

This was my first time using a legit pattern
(it was a simple one: cast on 33 stitches, knit row 1.
Row 2: knit one, yarn over, knit 2 together and repeat to the end.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 throughout).
And with the toggle buttons it can be worn different ways.
Love the warmth, love the color, can't wait to wear it on chilly days.

Pique Your Interest Week 9

So what piqued your interest on Pinterest this week?

I adore Jadeite, like would use it every day every time I ate or drank something. Alas, it's crazy expensive. My mom did just find a vintage measuring cup she forgot she owned, so my collection will begin! Hopefully one day it can look like this:

Even though my monogram is KMM and is slightly boring, I would love a monogram necklace. Preferably in teal.

I want a mustard sweater. It's between these two:

And this coat would be perfect for winter!

Rarebits Giveaway!

Fall is my absolute favorite season. The temps are perfect and the colors of the changing leaves brighten up my drive to work. I just love it.

Patty's posted about fall and how much she loves it and is offering one reader a Rarebits Corduroy Dress for one special little girl.

Head on over to bits 'n pieces and leave a comment about what you love most this time of year.  You and a little one can design a dress together that will be treasured for years to come.

On the Banks of the Mississippi

A cool perk of my job is the opportunity for professional development in neat places.
I've been able to cross the country to visit Seattle and head down south to Austin and meet great people to learn wonderful things together.

This year I traveled with three colleagues to New Orleans.

Every single person we met was delightful. I never thought New Yorkers were anything but nice until I was confronted with that foreign to me 'Southern hospitality.' Everyone was helpful, going out of their way to chat with us. The cab driver, the waiters, the concierge, everyone made us feel incredibly welcome. When I complimented the woman who helped me in the Gap, she saw my license and remarked, "well, honey, we just are a little bit sweeter down here from what you're used to at home." And she was right. Not that people aren't nice here - again, they are. It's just that people say hello to you and chat with you while waiting on line at Starbucks in New Orleans instead of glaring at you if you say that it's a beautiful day. It was refreshingly lovely.

A highlight of my trip was reuniting with my cousin, Stella.
She grew up in Los Angeles and we met once as tweens and spent a few days at the beach making friendship bracelets. She now lives in New Orleans and we were able to share dinner together one evening. Even though we hadn't spoken in about 15 years, it felt like we just saw each other last week. We talked about real issues, life, family, children, faith...and had no judgement.
Such a beautiful, affirming night.

I loved the vibrancy that is New Orleans. The food is rich, bold and tasty. The vibe is total energy. The music makes you want to get up and dance, just celebrate life as it is.
And that's what I think people there do. They celebrate. They live. They enjoy whatever they are doing (or at least that's what it seemed like to me). And I need to absorb a little bit of that...hopefully when someone meets me I seem celebratory and not negative. Definitely something I need to work on and one of the most valuable lessons I learned in New Orleans.

This week was all sorts of liking and pinning. Completely random and all over the place.

I am in love with these wellies. They are just gorgeous.

My mom lives by this, so I will too.

Cold and flu season is upon us. WARNING: This is one of the nastiest things you will ever drink, but whenever I feel 'off' I brew up this concoction and it makes a big difference. Sinuses open and throats are soothed. It's worth the grossness.

And finally, I love this idea for storing cleaning products in spray bottles.

Thanks for stopping by and please link up if you post about your Pinterest faves.
