Flashback Friday 10/22/10

What were we doing a year ago? Traipsing through London on our honeymoon :)

Freddy and I aren't exactly beach people, so a tropical getaway wasn't our cup of tea. We would rather go somewhere to enjoy tea and scones, hence our London and Paris trip.

Here are some of our favorite shots.

Stonehenge was the one spot Freddy couldn't wait to see.

Tower Bridge

The Big Ben Shots...they were a need

Probably one of my favorite shots...why am I in a down coat and Freddy's in a tee shirt??

Ah, Paris!!!

Dinner in the Eiffel Tower (a wedding gift from my aunt and uncle)

So...where did you spend your honeymoon or where would you want to go?
Have a fab weekend!

Memory Monday 10/18/10

Since I missed Flashback Friday, I thought I would try Memory Monday.

And today really is a cool day for my hubby and I - it's our first wedding anniversary.

Things I will always remember about that day:

Freddy looked so handsome and I really felt so special and loved.

It was freeeeeeezing!!!! My mother in law had to run and buy those shawls the morning of the wedding.

Our choreographed first dance

Dancing a lindy with my dad.

Loving the beginning of our life together.

And we were surrounded by those we love who have supported us this first year.

Happy first anniversary, sweetie! Here's to many more years of love.

Fall Clothing Switch-Out

Once we have a day that dips into the 60s, I'm ready to pull out all my fall jackets and get cozy for the cooler months.

My parents allow me to store my out-of-season clothes in their attic and this year I devised a little system for storage. All the clothes get put in Space Bags (I love those things!) and I label them with what they are, that they belong to me, and how many bags are in the lot. Obviously, I have learned from experience by spending a few months searching for that one jacket only to realize there must be a bag lurking somewhere. And it saves my parents going nuts deciding what's in the bag, getting annoyed that I even store them there, etc :)

A couple of weeks ago I picked up my three bags of fall/winter clothes. Mostly the bags are jackets, heavier pants, and lots of pull-over sweaters.
My family calls me Kathy...I've just embraced it.

Then the process begins, pulling out clothes from the summer months, laundering them, and taking time to decide what might be needed for the next few weeks as it could stay a little warmer. I used to keep lots of tees, tanks, dresses, and pants out for the whole year. This year I've decided to only keep a few short sleeve tees 'active' as I rarely wear them in the cooler months and I will have clothes to look forward to at the start of spring next year.

It causes a disastrous mess!

I also take the time to check out the items I really never wore this summer and decide if they are truly flattering and comfortable. If I don't love them (for instance, a very bulky sweatshirt that says "be in gratitude" that I loved and had to have, but have not worn for two years) they are getting stored for next year's clothing swap (more on that in the summer 2011, I promise) or thrown away if they are discolored (why do I have three semi-white Jcrew long-sleeve tees???) or bleached (I haaaaate that!!!) .

And the closet even looks cozier with all the long sleeved items.

Then those wonderful Space Bags come back into play, storing all the summer and spring clothes for next year.

I must admit, I love autumn and all the clothes that go along with crisp temps and falling leaves. And I love putting outfits together with all the jackets!!

Flashback Fridays: October 8, 2007

I am once again totally jumping on Michele's bandwagon. Over at her blog, Imperfectly Wonderful World, she's started Flashback Fridays to reflect on or remember events that weren't blogged, which I think is completely awesome.

And today just happens to be the three-year anniversary of the day my now-husband and I got engaged.
It was a beautiful October day (and as I write this, we are enjoying stunning weather that is exactly what we savored three years ago) and Freddy brought me to Manhattan to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Prior to that, he insisted we take photos of the Bethesda Fountain in Central Park for his mom to scrapbook. This proves my husband's brilliance: he made sure I dressed appropriately and remembered my camera.

After I yelled at the two birds to get off the wing of the angel (they remained for the photo), I turned around and there was Freddy, on his knee, asking if I would do him the honor of marrying him.
I am still so grateful to the mystery woman who heard me squealing with joy and snapped this photo for us.
Following the wonderful moment, we strolled through Central Park calling all our family and friends to share the news until we arrived at Tavern on the Green (now, sadly closed) where champange and a dozen roses awaited us at the table in the Crystal Room.
Oh how I still adore my sapphire and diamond ring. He knew exactly what I wanted and chose the perfect ring for me.

And then, to top the day off, Freddy reserved a limo to take us back home to celebrate with our families who were waiting for us to celebrate at dinner.
And tonight we will remember the day with dinner out together, remembering the day we said "yes."

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Tuesday, 10/5
Back to work and was able to get so many things done.
First me in a totally awkward pose. Neck weird, feet weird. Unfortunately this is a sharper shot than the normal posed me below.
This is more like it, but no matter how hard I tried to edit it, I couldn't make it crisp.
 Aqua top: Eddie Bauer
Shawl collar cardigan: Marshall's
Pants: Dockers
Heels: Aerosoles
Earrings: Lisa Leonard
beads: me
Tile necklace: unknown
Posy Pin: The Pleated Poppy

Why so many clothes from Macy's? you may ask. Well, Tuesday night's realization that none of my suits nor pants fit was slightly disappointing to say the least. Thus it meant buying a bulk of pants that allow me to sit down without fear of of them splitting from back to front.  And now I can actually not suck in my stomach every day. And I look less stuffed in my clothes.

Loving the change of season and enjoying finding scarves and boots to wear this year (they should be more popular over the next few weeks.

And here's a link to Lindsey's blog - the inspiration for us all :)
