thankful

Student Staff, you rock. Thank you for the flowers, the card, the awesome dinner, and most of all, your wonderful company. You made me feel so special, and I guess I needed that. Thanks to all of you for being such kind-hearted, generous people!

Say Yes to the Dress

Yup, that's right, I bought my wedding dress today. Totally great, wonderful day. and a disclaimer...I cannot for the life of me (and 2 hours on google and every wedding site) find the manufacturer photo of the dress. It is a Mori Lee gown style 3201, so different from anything I ever thought I would wear. This dress (on the model) is the closest I could find:

Mine is more full a-line and has some beading, but pretty much, this is the dress. I love that the gown has this incredible drape jacket (looks just like the one in the photo) and that it is a vintage-inspired lacy dress that is unique and very me (although it isn't anything I ever thought I would get). love it, love it, love it. Have a great weekend!

what I am working on today

So this is my current work in progress in the scrap lab.

For a while (um, 2 years) I have wanted to make a calendar, but it has always been an annoying project. But, I saw this Kaiser make your own calendar in my favorite scrap store Scrapper's Playground and decided to try this. So I hope to have August ready by next week so I can at least enjoy it. Basically, I paint each piece, add the papers and stickers (American Crafts letters), and then add the flower. I am still looking for little printable calenders that I like, so wish me luck.

Hope your day is happy!

New 'Do

Ya know when you just feel you need a little, quick change in life and you run out and buy a lipstick? Well, I got a haircut instead. Also, my friends encouraged me, even though I was slightly hesitant. In the words of my friend Paige, "Just wear dangle earrings and put your head up high." I needed to feel a little pretty and I am so grateful my friends encouraged me. Here's the look (sorry it's a little blurry).

My stylist Jamie rocks. I called her at 3:40 and she took me at 5:15. I'm likin' this spontaneous thing!

and I ran

I finally ran. Three years after buying the $83.00 sneakers, I used them. This is me, post-running, feeling completely exhausted.

It was a painful experience, but something my body really needs. I am trying to get enjoyment out of free, meaningful moments.

And, look what arrived in the mail today!!!!

I promise, I won't get all political on here (too exhausting. I would rather run). Plus, anyone who knows me probably isn't surprised by this. Don't I look like a crazy kid who just got the coolest Christmas present? I have no idea why this turned out so dorky, but it makes it even more hilarious.

Have a happy day!!!

Check this out

I watched this Saturday, Sunday, and again today. It is incredibly inspiring (also check out the outtakes on the right side of the page). I seriously almost cried as I watched it. I find it so cool that people can just get together and do something purely fun and totally joy-filled.
Where the hell is matt?
Just an FYI (because I had to know, too).

The lyrics of the song are based on part of the Gitanjali by Rabindranath Tagore. The poems won the Nobel prize for literature in 1923. Here is the poem used in the song:

"The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.

It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth in numberless blades of grass and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers.

It is the same life that is rocked in the ocean-cradle of birth and of death, in ebb and in flow.

I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life. And my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment."

Sunday Morning

Ok, actually afternoon. I somehow woke up at 12:05 this afternoon. Insane. I haven't done that since high school, although the past few weeks I have been taking forever to get out of bed on off-from-work days. Not a good thing. I need to learn to listen to the alarm.

Here's my beginnings of a vision board, something in a prominent place to inspire me everyday.

I am working on getting all the little pieces together, find some images to put on it. I really need to set some goals (I haven't been very good at that in the past). So, it's in the beginning stages. I'll show you the finished product when it's done.

And, I wanted to run yesterday. Didn't.

I finally entered the blogosphere

It took me a while, but I have finally entered the wonderful world of blogging. My co-workers encouraged my to do this and after much consideration, I guess I'm biting the bait. I think simple silly life is a much better blog name than my original idea, which was Super Spaz. I tend to have way too many spastic moments during the day and I know they will show up here, but alas, they also fall under simple and silly. This will probably end up being my journaling spot about the simple, funny, inspirational moments of my day and my goal is to not bore anyone too much.

So today...worked, ate yummy penne ala vodka for lunch, and scrapbooked after work. Yes, I am a dorky scrapper and I am ok with that. I was never artistic in school, so I guess I am loving that no one grades me and I get to have an awesome time playing with very cool products. I try to scrap the fun moments, but I don't have little kids in my life, so it ends up being lots of shots of me doing silly things, or random things I love (like Flight of the Conchords). My page about how great they are will be uploaded at a later date (it's my first day and well, I am having upload issues, shocker!).

I apologize in advance for any typos, grammatical errors. I will do my best to avoid them, but please bear with me.
